Clara Anastácia, born in Pavuna, a suburb of the city of Rio de Janeiro, currently resides in the region of Pequena África – Gamboa. She is a screenwriter and director. Student of Aesthetics and theatrical theory at UNIRIO, Anastácia, was also a member of CoLaboratório Criativo 2021, created and produced by AFAR Ventures, with investment and partnership with Netflix Brasil. Developing and thinking about works aimed at inclusion and diversity, Anastácia began her journey in the script at Lereby, alongside director Daniel Filho. The screenwriter has worked for producers such as: Floresta, Maria Farinha, Boutique, Lereby, Delikatessen, among others.
In 2022 Anastácia had her short film “ESCASSO”, as the most awarded short film of the year, a work that she created alone, scripted, acted and invited Gaia Meirelles to co-direct. Taking the statuette of the most important festivals in Brazil, such as: Rio Film Festival, Brasília Festival of Brazilian Cinema and Canal Brasil award, among other festivals, where it also won the award for best short film. It was also awarded abroad at the IndieLisboa festival, in Portugal, as “best short fiction”, won an honorable mention for the creation of new languages at the largest short film festival in the world, Clemond Ferrand, in France and is among the films selected for the Film at Lincoln Center at MoMA (USA) in the exhibition “New Directors, New Films of 2023”.
Anastácia has fostered the black intellectual scene with the CAFÉ PRETO event, an activity aimed at the contemporary black artistic class in order to reestablish decolonial and intellectual agreements of blackness. The meetings always take place in the region of Little Africa – Gamboa
